Earlier last year, there were reports that actor Dhanush’s second directorial after his successful directorial debut with ‘Pa Paandi’ has been drops. The makers of the film then cleared the rumors saying the film has been put on hold as Dhanush was busy shooting for director Vetrimaaran’s ‘Asuran’. Now, the latest is that Dhanush is set to resume his dream project and that the film is titled ‘Naan Rudran’ set in the pre-independence era.
While an official statement regarding the film and title is awaited, the project, tentatively titled ‘DD 2’ had Dhanush playing the lead role with Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and actress Aditi Rao Hydari playing a pivotal role in the film. Bankrolled by Thenandal Studios and touted to be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, the film also has SJ Suryah, Sarathkumar, Srikanth among others.
The film has music by Sean Roldan with Om Prakash and Prasanna GK handling the cinematography and editing respectively. Earlier last year, talking about the project Nagarjuna was quoted as saying, “It’s a period drama and this role is extra special to me because I’ve attempted something I’ve never done before. I play a character who goes 600 years back in time. It’s an interesting role.”
Meanwhile, Dhanush’s ‘D40’ titled by ‘Jagame Thanthiram’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj is ready for release after the lockdown ends. The star actor also has ‘Karnan’ directed by Maari Selvaraj of ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ fame and ‘D43’ produced by Sathya Jyothi Films and directed by Karthik Naren in his kitty and another film tentatively called ‘D44’ produced by Sun Pictures.
