Film is inspired by true events which happened in 1970s in the life of Sehmat Khan (played by Alia Bhatt). She’s an Indian girl who marries a Pakistan to enter the country as a Spy to get hold of their war secrets.

Alia Bhatt is in absolute rocking form as she pulls off a tough and bold role with ease. Her character is so strong and acts as the driving force of the film. Vicky Kaushal stays as a solid support alongside Alia. Rest of the side artists also creates big impact in the narration. Meghna Gulzar has conceived the story perfectly and directed a cracker. Harinder Sikka’s script has the essential moments which could meet the reality well, also excites the viewers. Bhavani Iyer and Meghna Gulzar’s screenplay is intense throughout, high points appear frequently which offers the engagement. Pre-interval and pre-climax portion were nail biting with superior situations. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s songs are decent, background music is truly topical. Jay I.Patel’s cinematography is neat and to the point without any unwanted complexity. Nitin Baid’s editing is simple, yet efficient at the same time. The story is highly inspiring and will make us feel proud of women.

Film begins on moderate note as it takes time to kick start its centre zone. The progression for the opening 30mins is quite sluggish, though it contained lot of detailing with respect to the script, the elements were pretty familiar. The training portions are much seen one, dragging those portions to extent dropped the movie’s pace. Narration pattern could’ve been much more different instead of the usual flashback style. The twist at the end is predictable.

TO CONCLUDE – An realistic dramatic thriller that is intense and inspiring.

Movie Rating – 3/ 5.
