Sasikumar, who debuted as a director with Subramaniapuram also acted in it, and the film was a hit. Then he went on to direct Easan. However, he started focusing on acting and did movies like Naadodigal, Kuttipuli, Bramman, and Kidaari, among others.
Recently, in an interaction, Sasikumar has revealed that he had tried to direct a historical movie with Thalapathy Vijay in the lead. He said that though Vijay liked the story and agreed to act in it, it did not materialize due to several reasons including the high budget.
Sasikumar mentioned that though he is not interested in acting in period films, he is interested in directing one. He added that the story is kept ready and he is hopeful that he will direct Thalapathy Vijay in the near future in the historical movie.
It has to be recalled that it was speculated that Sasikumar will direct Vijay in 2018 and the director had even met SS Rajamouli to discuss some nuances of a historical film. Later, there were rumors that Suriya was impressed by the strong storyline, and Sasikumar was planning to do the film with him.
However, going by his recent revelation, it’s now clear that the director is waiting for Vijay to be part of the film.
Sasikumar was last seen in Naadodigal 2 and he is also part of the Tamil remake of Malayalam hit film, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, in which he will essay the role portrayed by Biju Menon, a police officer.
On the other hand, Vijay’s Master under Lokesh Kanagara’s direction is awaiting a new date for release as the corona pandemic spoiled their release plans.
